Tesco 99 Octane is the favourite fuel of many drivers and for many reasons. The following comments about Tesco 99 Octane illustrate why it is so popular: |

Tesco 99 Octane is the cheapest and best I have tried. Tesco 99 is cheaper than BP Ultimate and TVR loves it.. extra pops and bangs on the over run :) I read this (Thorney Fuel Test Report) a few weeks ago and based on the article decided to try Tesco's 99 Octane as I’d started using a new contract and was filling up every few days. To me the Tesco 99 Octane seems the same as V Power (which I used religiously) but for less cash. It pulled the same, felt the same and returned similar mpg. I’d never have thought of trying it, so thanks for the top tip. Remember it’s not Tesco that make the fuel, they just sell the stuff, its made my a company who specialise in fuel blending for (amongst other people) race teams. As far as I’m concerned I’m buying decent fuel that just happens to be cheap from a supermarket and the other way around. Fuel wise I use Tesco 99 Octane and found it works very well in both our Astra and Corsa VXR’s, not a fan of BP, power feels a little flat, V Power feels exactly the same in both cars compared with the T99 but being that bit cheaper, T99 wins me over. |
I always feel the engine is performing better after Tesco 99 Octane. I have been using Tesco 99 Super Unleaded in my standard 1.8 Sri estate for some time now and I find it gives my car more pull and smoother acceleration. I’ve found that Tesco performs better than Shell. I go though 2 tanks a week and Tesco 99 seems to be the best. The car pulls like a train and seems much happier with T99 than any other type of fuel. Tesco 99 Octane is excellent. It’s really sorted out problems we had with our turbo petrol car which was sluggish before using this. Tried Tesco 99 and felt an improvement over Shell. Used Tesco 99 ever since, but put a tank of Shell in the other day and didn’t feel as good so sticking with Tesco. T99 for me all the way. Consistency is the key, never have any flat spots with it and I honestly feel the car is quicker, but you HAVE to give it 2 tanks and the ECU adapt, followed by driving it HARD at some point in order to allow the ECU to work with the fuel when it is being driven to its maximum. |
We are convinced that our use of the Tesco 99 Octane fuel played a part. Fuel economy is rarely mentioned in sprint racing but 45 minutes is a long time for what is essentially a road car in race car trim and the fact that both cars finished with fuel to spare is in part due to the quality and consistency of the fuel. The biggest difference I noticed in both performance and mileage was on Tesco 99 Octane. I only use Tesco 99 or Shell V Power. I believe with a higher rating fuel it will burn more efficiently, less wear and tear on the engine and possibility of more mpg. She (my car) does like Tesco 99 as I do feel a difference with that one… and I get a few more MPG too. Have been using T99 since I got my VXR. Almost 1k on the clock now and it purrs very nicely. Power is always there when you want it and the computer says I am getting around 30mpg. I do a mix of short runs to work and some higher speed motorway runs. So for my 2 pence worth I would recommend Tesco 99 Octane. I’ve noticed the mpg increase on Tesco 99 Ron! Car feels much smoother with that. |
